The choir of Kyiv Specialized Music School named after M. Lysenko unites girls aged from 10 to 18 years old. They perform Ukrainian and foreign spiritual music, arrangements of folk and ritual songs, classical and modern acapella music. Throughout almost 70 years period of existence the choir has toured many European countries – Slovakia, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland. Since 2008 the choir has been leaded by Julia Puchko-Kolesnik. Under her guidance the ensemble became laureate of many choral competitions all over Europe. Among them are 3 Golden Prizes from Lorenzo d’Medici Festival (Florence, 2018), 1 Prize, Special Prize for the Best Soloist of the Competition at ICC in Preves (Greece, 2017), 3 Grand Prix in 3 Categories at the ICC “World Games 2017” (Berlin), 1st Prize at the ICC Daugavpils (Lithuanian, 2017), 1st Prize at the ICC„Eterna Roma”(Rome, 2016), Grand Prix at the ICC in Prague (2015), Grand Prix and Golden Angel Award from International competition of Christmas music in Krakow (Poland, 2014), Grand Prix at ICC “W.A.Mozart” (Prague 2013). One of the most important events of the choir’s life was the benefit-concert in the UNESCO Headquarters on 26 June 2015. In July 2016 the choir has performed the Holy Mass at the St.Peter Cathedral in Rome.

Yulia Puchko-Kolesnik studied at Kyiv Special Music Boarding School named after M.Lysenko in class of Honored worker of culture of Ukraine Vladimir Mysko. From 1991 till 1996 she studied choir conducting in class of professor, Honoured Artist of Ukraine O.Tymoshenko, graduated with highest distinction. Since 2000 Yulia Puchko-Kolesnik has worked as Ass. Prof. in Choral conducting at P.Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in Kyiv. In 2009 she defended a thesis for Candidate of Sciences. In 2014 Yulia became Merited Master of Arts of Ukraine. She is a regular jury member of many international choral competitions, leads workshops and masterclasses in Ukraine and Europe. Since 2009 Yulia Puchko-Kolesnik is art-director and conductor of Chamber girls’ choir of Kyiv Special Music Boarding School “M. Lysenko”. Under her leadership the choir was prizewinner of more than 20 international competitions and become one of the most successful choirs in the country.
