“Simeonis” Choir was founded in 2006 by Slavic Dimitrov first under the name “Shumen” Chamber Choir.  Under the name “Simeonis” the choir quickly gained popularity as one of the leading ensembles in Shumen. The choir includes students, undergraduate students, music teachers and people with different occupations. The work of the choir and conductor resulted in repertoire of various genres; many concerts; performances with the Symphony Orchestra – Sliven, Shumen State Philharmonic Orchestra and soloist Kamelia Todorova; with the City Wind Orchestra and soloist Maria Ilieva and Orlin Goranov. The choir was awarded: 4th prize at the 53rd Festival of Habaneras and Polyphony International Contest – Torrevieja (Spain, 2007), 2nd prize at the International Choir Festival – Ohrid (Macedonia, 2011), 2nd prize at the International Choir Festival – Antalya, (Turkey, 2014). In 2012 and 2013, the choir participated in concert tours of RAMFIS International Management Production in France, Spain, Italy with the operas “Aida” and “Nabucco” by Giuseppe Verdi .

Slavil Dimitrov graduated at “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ” National Academy of Music” majoring in choral conducting  and in 1998 he specialized in opera-symphony conducting. He studied composition with Prof. Alexander Raichev. Since the beginning of 1992 he has been a choirmaster of the Academic Choir at Students’ Hose – Sofia, and since 1994 – its Chief Conductor. Shortly before graduating, he began working as a conductor at the Shumen State Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked for 10 years. In 2007 he won a contest for conductors at the National Opera and Ballet, Sofia. Chief Conductor “Opera activity” at the OPhS Ruse (2009 – 2011). Choir director of State Opera and Ballet – Izmir, Turkey (2012 – 2014), and since 2013 he has been the conductor of the orchestra. At the same time he began teaching at the Yasar University in Izmir, where he established the subject “Choral Conducting”, the first and only one of its kind in the Republic of Turkey. He is winner of national and international awards as pianist, conductor and composer. Guest conductor of symphony orchestras and opera theaters in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Serbia, France, Turkey, Japan. Since June 2015 Slavil Dimitrov has been the Chief Conductor of “Svetoslav Obretenov” National Philharmonic Choir and since October 2018 – President of the Bulgarian Choral Union.
