The Good Hope School Choir is one of Hong Kong’s longest-established and finest choirs which was founded in 1959. The choral training aims not only at pursuing vocal delicateness, but at unleashing its members’ full music potential and at cultivating confident young ladies for future society. During its long artistic history the Choir has achieved outstanding results in various local music festivals being prizewinner at different levels and was awarded “The Most Outstanding Choir”. The Choir has made many overseas tours, among them in Canada, Austria, Poland, China, Italy, Hungary and Australia. The numerous prizes have build its international reputation – Gold Awards in the 5th and 6th World Choir Games, laureate of the 8th World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna. Besides, category winner and qualified for the Grand Prix of the 5th International Copernicus Choir Festival & Competition in Poland.
Melody Tang was born in Hong Kong and she showed keen interest in music at an early age. After winning prizes (vocal and yang-qin classes) in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, she was then accepted by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to further her vocal studies. Whilst a student at the academy, she has sung Guadalena in ‘La Perichole’, Dorabella in ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’, ‘The Bartered Bride’, ‘Le Villi’ and ‘Bastien und Bastienne’. After graduation, she has been appeared as soloist in various concerts, operas and musicals as well as participating in production projects. She is also keen on music development for children and is currently the Music Director (Vocal) for Good Hope School, instructor for The Hong Kong Children’s Choir and member of The Hong Kong Opera Society.
