The ensemble was founded in 2008 under the name Chamber Choir at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the idea to perform and record of newly discovered works by music researchers. The choir’s conductor is Dr. Maria Valchanova and it unites young scientists, research associates and friends of the Academy. The choir aims to promote unknown and less performed works of vocal music classic and modernity as well as to popularize the work of young Bulgarian and foreign composers. Among the choir’s distinctions are: 3rd prize of the 35th International Festival of Orthodox Music in Hajnowka (Poland): two silver medals from the International Competition „Antonio Vivaldi“, 3rd prize at the International Choir Competition in Paralia Katerini (Greece), 3rd prize in the category  Chamber Choirs at the International May Choir Competition „Prof.G. Dimitrov “ in Varna and others.

Dr. Maria Valchanova is the founder and conductor of the formation. In 2007 she graduated in choral conducting, musicology and viola at the NMA „Pancho Vladigerov“. In July 2013 she acquired PhD degree at the Institute of Art Studies, field „Music“ – BAS, with dissertation thesis „The Penetration of Russian Polyphony into  Bulgarian Church Music from the  Liberation to 1944″.
