“Rezonans” Mixed Choir – Istanbul, Turkey
Founded in 2010 by Burak Onur Erdem, “Rezonans” became one of the prominent choirs of Turkey within a few seasons. The choir takes part in leading choral festivals of Europe and performs with world-renowned conductors such as Eric Whitacre, Nigel Short, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Volker Hempfling and Georg Grün. “Rezonans” also has performed with Yale Schola Cantorum, Salt Lake Vocal Artists and Junges Vokalensemble Hannover.
The choir gave concerts in prominent music festivals of Turkey such as IKSV Music Festival, Çanakkale and Ankara Choral Festivals. In 2017, “Rezonans” was awarded as “Choir of the Year” by the most famous music magazine in Turkey, “Andante”.
The singers performed at the Europa Cantat Festival in Hungary. In 2016 they took part in Cork International Fleischmann Trophy and won the second prize, and in 2017 the choir received the third prize in Monographic Category at the Arezzo Choral Competition and was qualified to the final stage.

Burak Onur Erdem (b.1986) studied music theory & conducting in the ITU Center for Advanced Studies in Music. Prior to his musical studies, he was graduated from Bogazici University Political Science & International Relations department with the Rector’s Prize. He refined his choral conducting skills through international masterclasses by working with Maria Guinand, Anders Eby, Volker Hempfling, Johannes Prinz, Denes Szabo and Michael Gohl. He founded the Choral Culture Association in 2012. He has been elected to the Board of the European Choral Association for the period 2015-2018. He founded the choral ensemble “Rezonans” in 2010 and has been its artistic director & conductor ever since. From 2013 to 2016 he was the conductor the Istanbul European Choir. He has regularly worked with State Choir Turkey as assistant conductor since 2013 and was appointed as its artistic director & principal conductor in 2017.
