The choir unites current and former students of Ostrava’s universities. It has been established in 2001. Since January 2015 the choir is conducted by Adam Sedlicky. Choir has been awarded many times – e.g.: “Golden Belt” at the Festival of Choral Art Jihlava (Czech Republic, 2011, 2013, 2016), „Golden Belt“ at Praga Cantat in Prague (Czech Republic, 2011), „Silver Belt“ at Ohrid Choir Festival (Macedonia, 2012), „Silver Belt“ and Special award for performance of folklore song at Choral Competition in Preveza (Greece, 2014), “Golden Belt” at Festival of Academic Banska Bystrica (Slovakia, 2015) and 1. place and Special award for compulsory song at Laudate Dominum (Lithuania, 2015). At the Festival of Choral Art Jihlava 2016 the choir was declared as winner in category with compulsory song. In discography of the choir can be found 4 audio CDs. Apart from concerts in Czech Republic the choir performs in foreign countries too (Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Argentina, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Greece, etc.). It often takes part in prestigious festivals and performs vocal-oratorio works by Dvorak, Petr Eben, Janacek, Bach, etc. In 2012 the choir presented Vytautas Miskinis’s Light Mass (jazz mass) for the first time in Czech Republic.
Adam Sedlick? graduated in piano and in conducting at the Conservatory in ?ilina (Slovakia). In 2016 he completed a master’s degree study in orchestral conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Furthermore, he spent a semester studying at the Academy of Music in Krakow, where he successfully participated in master conducting classes led by renowned Polish conductor Gabriel Chmur.
In the years 2012-2015 he acted as chief conductor of Moravskoslezsk? Sinfonietta and also as conductor of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra M?jov?k in Karvin?, with whom he undertook concert tours in Slovenia and Austria. Since 2014 he has been working on orchestral projects with the University of Ostrava.
In the 2015/2016 season he was engaged at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, in which he hosts up to now. He is currently the chief conductor of the Chamber Opera Bratislava, the conductor of the orchestra at the ?ilina Conservatory and PhD student at the Art Academy in B?nsk? Bystrica. Since 2015 he has been conductor of the Academic Choir of Technical University of Ostrava, with whom he achieved considerable successes.
